Spring Cleaning and Building Healthy Habits

Spring Cleaning and Building Healthy Habits

Spring cleaning is a trendy and popular ritual this time of year. Many people make the effort to declutter their homes, offices, or cars, but what about ourselves? Use this time of year to create a few new healthy habits to recharge and refresh.

1.    Create work-life balance: Work-life balance is a term that describes the relationship between work and an individual's personal life. It is a measure of how well an individual's professional life matches their personal needs.

There are many benefits to balancing your work and your personal life. Some of these benefits include increased productivity, better decision making skills, more creativity, improved health and less stress. The best way to implement a work-life balance is to create a daily schedule dedicating time to work and time for personal life.

2.    Mindfulness and Meditation: Mindfulness is an active process that requires you to pay attention to what’s happening in the present moment without judgment. It’s a way to reduce stress and anxiety by focusing on your breath or on a specific activity like walking, eating, or drinking tea.

The best way to incorporate mindfulness into your life is by practicing it everyday for at least 10 minutes at a time. Practicing daily meditation will help cleanse your thoughts. If you’re stressed about work or life or both use this time to detox the mind and reset your intentions. 3.    Movement: Practice movement, whether it’s stretching, walking, or dancing to a favorite song. Any movement is beneficial both physically and mentally because it’s a distraction for the mind and body. Exercise can sometimes sound daunting, especially when tired so focus on movement instead. Start small and set a daily goal to move for 5 minutes each day, in any form that personal and creative to you.

There are many ways you can practice these tips and tricks and incorporate into your daily routine. Some companies are now providing perks to their employees in order to encourage them to work more efficiently and have more time for themselves outside of work. Begin to practice work-life balance, daily meditation, and movement to release your stress valve and create more time for personal growth and wellness.
